Episode IV: A New Hope

As my excellent Star Wars reference indicates, I have some interesting and exciting updates!

First off, my cheesecake fundraiser has raise over $500 for my trip! Thank you all who bought cheesecakes and told your friends and family. My plan is to keep making them until I have a better idea of when I am leaving, so watch out on social media for more advertisement.

Now for the meaty stuff.

We have been waiting for the Malagasy president to announce when international travel would open again. He has spoken several times saying that Madagascar was "over" COVID, but never gave an update on the travel side of things. After his most recent one, he stated he would not be making any more speeches of that kind. So we can assume that travel to Madagascar from the United Stated (considered a COVID-19 hotspot), won't be publicly accessed for some time.

As discouraging as that is, our God is so much bigger than closed borders.

Since the public traveling door seems to be closing, WorldVenture is finding a window. On-island representatives are currently using government connections to get me some sort of special permission to travel to the island, regardless of the travel mandates. We have no idea how long this could take or what the process looks like, but since I have a work permit and I already had obtained a visa, I'm praying it's soon.
