It's been a week and a half since I got home from my first attempt of getting to Madagascar. I'm staying with my parents, but moving back to my place within the next couple of days. As soon as I got home, the job hunt was on. Thankfully, healthcare is one of the few areas where jobs are not lacking. I could always go back to my job working with special needs adults on the night shift, but I would really rather not. My dream job is working in a hospital or clinic as a nurse practitioner, so the closer I can get to that, the better. I've had little success so far, but I'm not giving into my old job for at least another week of searching.
Other than doing my due diligence in the career world, there's really not much else to do. Because my parents' house is filled with so many people, we've been self-quarantining for over a week now. If one of us goes out and becomes a carrier of COVID-19, the Randalls would be a quick and efficient approach to spreading germs. Books, Netflix, Spotify, and Pinterest have been keeping me entertained for now, but I cannot wait to be working again.
After working at a job where hours were in abundance and there was always pressure to work over time, doing nothing for weeks at a time is challenging to say the least. I feel so useless! I am so excited to get back to getting hours in and making money again. There's something so satisfying about providing for myself, and I miss that feeling (a lot!). Please pray that God would send the perfect job my way soon. I am anxious to be useful and helpful during this time of crisis.
Before I left my job at the end of February, I had saved up about $2,000 to use when I had gotten back from Madagascar in fall. I had to use a bit of it for some last minute purchases for the trip, and for my ticket to Orlando (which I did not get a refund for... lame). But with the remaining about $1,000, I'll be able to move back out of my parents house and live just fine until I get a job.
Please continue to pray for Madagascar with me. They have closed their borders to all travel and have their first handful of cases. COVID-19 is going to be a devastating wave to the island. Their healthcare was already crumbling and their government is a mess and totally unprepared for what decisions lie ahead. The Shattenburgs were unable to get off the island before travel was affected. Please pray for their safety and health, if they were to get sick and be in critical condition, there isn't much that Madagascar would be able to give them.
I appreciate all you guys sticking around and encouraging and praying both with me, and for me. I am praying that all of you are healthy, even if you're a little bored.
